FG Declares May 1 Public Holiday To Celebrate Workers’ Day
The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1, a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Workers’ Day.
Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the government in a statement released by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Magdalene Ajani.
He urged Nigerians to embrace peace as a key driver of industrialisation and economic development.
Dr Tunji-Ojo praised Nigerian workers for their dedication, saying their sacrifices contribute immensely to the country’s progress and global reputation.
“There is dignity in labour; the dedication and commitment to the work we do is vital to nation-building,” the Minister stated, while encouraging workers to embrace innovation and productivity.
He further urged workers to raise the quality of their trade to positively influence governance and ensure that all Nigerians benefit from the country’s resources.
Reassuring citizens of safety, he stated, “This administration is fully committed to the security of life and property of every citizen and foreigner in the country.”
