Fubara Returns To Port Harcourt After Secret Meeting With Tinubu In London
Suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has returned to Port Harcourt after spending nearly two weeks abroad, amid reports of a secret meeting with President Bola Tinubu in London.
Fubara landed at the international wing of the Port Harcourt International Airport in Omagwa around 7pm on Friday and was seen in a viral video being received by aides before leaving in a waiting SUV.
Sources claim that Fubara met President Tinubu during his time in London to discuss the political crisis in Rivers State and the state of emergency declared in April.
A presidential aide, who confirmed the meeting, said it was part of efforts to restore peace to the oil-rich state.
“The meeting was part of the efforts by the President to find a lasting solution to the ongoing political crisis in that region,” the aide disclosed.
OSUN DEFENDER recalls that Fubara, along with his deputy Prof. Ngozi Odu and members of the State House of Assembly, was suspended in March after Tinubu declared a state of emergency due to escalating tensions, including attacks on oil pipelines and political conflict involving former governor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
