The Presiding Judge of the Osun State High Court, Ikirun division, Justice I. O. Adeleke Thursday, recuse himself from the case instituted by the Osun State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that NULGE dragged the All Progressives Congress and elected local government chairmen from the October 15, 2022, election before the high court, seeking a perpetual restraining order against them.
NULGE, through its legal counsel, Mr. Musibau Adetunbi (SAN), is asking the court to stop the APC-backed chairmen and councillors from resuming office or interfering in the operations of the 30 local government councils in the state.

The suit, numbered HIR/5/2025, also seeks an order restraining the defendants or their associates from harassing or arresting NULGE members in a bid to assume office.
In the originating summons, dated February 28, 2025, NULGE seeks a declaration that the Federal High Court’s judgment of November 30, 2022, which removed the elected APC chairmen and councillors from office, remains valid.
However, the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) accused the judge of playing to the gallery, a situation sources said led to the withdrawal of Justice Adeleke from the case.
The APC alleged the state governor, Ademola Adeleke of plot to procure judgement from the High Court in Ikirun.
When the case resumed earlier today, the judge announced his withdrawal and ordered that the case be returned to the Chief Judge of Osun State, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo, for reassignment to another Judge.
