China Imposes 75% Anti-Dumping Duties On Plastic Imports From US, EU, Japan
China has imposed anti-dumping duties of up to 75 percent on plastic imports from the United States, European Union, Taiwan, and Japan.
The move follows Beijing’s investigation into alleged dumping practices, according to China’s commerce ministry.
The tariffs target imports of polyformaldehyde copolymer, a widely used plastic in car parts, medical devices, and household appliances.
The levies will range from 3.8 percent to 74.9 percent and took effect the day after the announcement.
This development comes shortly after the US and China agreed to reduce tariffs on each other’s goods for 90 days, marking a temporary easing in their ongoing trade conflict that has unsettled global markets and supply chains.
China frequently launches anti-dumping investigations amid wider trade disputes. For example, in April, it imposed similar measures on EU brandy, impacting France’s cognac exports.
