1. Osun Police Responds To OAU Students’ Complaint Over Rising Robbery Cases

The Osun State Police Command has responded to complaints from the Student Union Government of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, regarding the rise in robbery incidents in off-campus student residential areas within the town.

OSUN DEFENDER reports that the university Students’ Union, in a statement released on Wednesday, raised alarm over what it described as a “security breakdown” in student-populated areas of Ile-Ife, Osun State.

2. Youths Protest Alleged Fraudulent Activities Of Osun House Agents

Economic life in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, was briefly disrupted on Thursday as scores of young residents took to the streets in protest against what they described as the “exploitative and fraudulent practices” of house agents operating across the state.

The protest, which began at the popular Freedom Park before advancing to Olaiya Junction and other major streets, saw a mass of mostly students and young tenants chanting solidarity songs and carrying placards with inscriptions such as: “Say No to Fraudulent House Agents,” “Housing Agency Should Be Regulated,” and “Enough is Enough.”

3. Traders Blast Gov. Adeleke Over Comment On Adire Origin

Traders at the historic Itoku Market have come out swinging against Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, over a claim that the popular Yoruba adire textile originated from Ede, Osun State, and was allegedly “stolen” by the Egba people.

Recall that Governor Adeleke, in a now-viral video, had told the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, that the adire fabric originated from his hometown, Ede.
