The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure has reportedly struck out a request by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to relist its appeal against the Federal High Court judgment that nullified the controversial September 2022 local government elections in Osun State.

2. Osun 2026: I’ll Return APC To Power – Oyetola

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has stated that he is ready to work hard to ensure that the opposition All Progressives Congress in Osun State returns to power.

The former governor, who was defeated by the incumbent, Governor Ademola Adeleke, in the 2022 election, called for unity in the APC to make the struggle to reclaim power easier in the August 8, 2026 election.

3. Appeal Court Judgment: Apologise To Osun People Now – OSSIEC Boss To AGF, IGP

  • Says Commission Has Been Vindicated

The chairman of Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), Barrister Hashim Abioye, has said the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi SAN, and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun owe the people of Osun an apology for their role in attempting to stop the February 22 local government election.

Abioye said the judgment of the Appeal Court, which dismissed the case filed by the All Progressives Congress to relist its earlier dismissed appeal, has vindicated the commission.

The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has claimed the Court of Appeal ruling delivered on Friday only laid emphasis on the sanctity of the judgment delivered on 10th February 2025, which reinstated the Chairmen and Councilors elected on 15th October 2022.

OSUN DEFENDER reports that a three-man panel had earlier dismissed a motion filed by the APC to relist an appeal jointly filed and abandoned in respect of a lower court decision delivered on 30th November 2022, which sacked the elected APC council chairmen.
