Fresh Bandit Attack Claims Lives Of PDP Chieftain, Son In Kwara
Suspected bandits have killed a businessman and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ward leader, Alhaji Abdullahi Kpotun, alongside his son during a late-night attack in Lile village, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The attack, which occurred on Tuesday night, was reportedly a failed abduction attempt.
A source who spoke to SaharaReporters on Wednesday revealed that the assailants stormed Kpotun’s residence and fatally shot him and his son.
The source added that the violence extended beyond the Kpotun household, as the attackers also killed another individual in a separate compound within the community.
Efforts by SaharaReporters to obtain a comment from the Kwara State Police Command were unsuccessful, as spokesperson Ejire-Adeyemi Adetoun did not respond to calls or messages.
This latest violence comes just weeks after similar attacks were reported in Patigi and Ndanaku communities in the Kwara North Senatorial District.
On June 3, gunmen killed two persons, including the CEO of Biskad Pharmacy, shortly after Ishai prayers.
The pharmacy owner was reportedly targeted for abduction before being shot by the assailants.
