Iran Questions Israel’s Commitment To Ceasefire
Iran’s Chief of Staff, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, has expressed strong doubts over Israel’s commitment to the ceasefire agreement that recently ended a 12-day conflict between both countries.
Speaking on Sunday during a televised address, Mousavi warned that Iran remains fully prepared to respond if hostilities resume.
“We did not start the war, but we have responded to the aggressor with all our power,” he said.
“As we have serious doubts over the enemy’s compliance with its commitments, including the ceasefire, we are ready to respond with force if attacked again.”
The truce, announced on Tuesday by U.S. President Donald Trump, followed days of intense fighting that saw heavy casualties on both sides.
One of the deadliest incidents was an Israeli airstrike on Tehran’s Evin prison, which reportedly left at least 71 people dead and large parts of the facility in ruins, according to Iran’s judiciary.
Tensions remain high despite the ceasefire, as both sides continue to trade accusations of provocation and violations.
