Ex-Super Eagles Goalkeeper Peter Rufai Is Dead
Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, has died.
His death was confirmed to TheCable on Thursday by Waidi Akanni, a former teammate and associate.
Details surrounding the cause and time of his death are yet to be made public as at the time of filing this report.
Rufai, fondly called “Dodo Mayana,” was Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States and also featured at the 1998 edition in France.
He earned over 60 caps for the national team and was part of the golden generation that won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia.
Following his retirement, Rufai remained active in football development and youth training programmes across Nigeria.
