Delegates Will Decide ADC Presidential Candidate – Atiku’s Aide

Paul Ibe, media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has said that delegates will determine who emerges as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ibe revealed this while speaking on Trust TV, stressing that the decision will not rest with Atiku, Peter Obi, or Rotimi Amaechi, all of whom are being speculated as contenders under the coalition.

According to him, the coalition’s leadership had already agreed on the need for sacrifices before the ADC platform was unveiled.

He added that though Atiku, Obi, and Amaechi had shown interest in contesting the 2027 presidency on the coalition’s platform, the final decision lies with party delegates.

“It is the delegates of the party, whether it is a direct or indirect primary, that will determine the fate of these leaders,” Ibe said.

“All of these two fighting or three fighting will be settled by the delegates.”

He blamed the Tinubu-led government for eroding the democratic process, alleging that the current administration is steering Nigeria towards a one-party system.

“Maybe it’s because we’ve lost the essence of what democracy is all about due to what Tinubu and his administration have been doing.

“Everybody is being railroaded into a one-party state. It’s about choice – people have the right to choose,” he said.
