A serving senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Senator Olubiyi Oluwole Fadeyi, has tendered his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing irreconcilable internal crisis within the party.

In a resignation letter dated 12th June, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward 3 Chairman in Oke-Ejigbo, Ila-Orangun, Osun State, Fadeyi said his decision to quit the party was borne out of the deep division and court-induced factionalism that have plagued the PDP at the national level in the last three years.

According to the lawmaker, “Irreconcilable difference and irreparable division that have emerged and court cases and counter court cases in the last 3 years which has created faction in the party at the national level” informed his decision to resign with immediate effect.

The senator, who chairs the Senate Committee on Environment, disclosed that his decision came after “consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends.”

OSUN DEFENDER had earlier reported that the lawmaker representing Osun Central, Senator Francis Fadahunsi resigned from the PDP.

In his resignation letter dated June 12, Fadahunsi said his decision was due to irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedeviled the party at the National level.

The letter was addressed to the PDP ward party chairman, Ward 4, Obokun Local Government Area, Osun State.

The letter read, “I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my Membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect, due to the irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedeviled the party at the National level after the 2023 general elections.

“This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family, and friends.

“It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith.”

While both senators did not disclose their next political home, it is believed that the two and others, whose resignation from the ruling party in the state may come in the next few days are on their way to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
