1. Osun Senator Resigns From PDP

The lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District, Senator Francis Fadahunsi has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In his resignation letter dated June 12, 2025, Fadahunsi said his decision was due to irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedeviled the party at the National level.

2. Osun Govt Shifts Promotion Exams Over Buhari’s Death

The Osun State Government has announced the postponement of the 2025 Unified Promotion Examination (UPE), initially scheduled to hold on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, following the declaration of a public holiday by the Federal Government.

In a public service announcement signed by Mrs. Olubukola Akintola, Registrar of the Osun State Examinations Board, the government stated that all examination papers slated for Tuesday have been rescheduled.

3. Osun Police Arrest Man For Allegedly Beating Wife To Stupor

The Osun State Police Command has arrested a 39-year-old man, Oluwatomi Oliyide, who allegedly beat his wife to stupor for demanding that he take care of their children’s welfare.

3. Five Robbery, Murder, Kidnapping Suspects Arrested In Osun

The Osun State Police Command has apprehended five suspects alleged to be involved in a series of serious crimes ranging from armed robbery and kidnapping to car theft, cultism, and murder.

Disclosing this in a statement issued in Osogbo, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed that several stolen items were recovered during the operations, including firearms, stolen vehicles, mobile phones, and other valuables.

It was gathered that no fewer than 44,155 admission seekers selected the institution as their first choice in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), according to statistics recently released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

8. Fear Grips Osun Community As Farmer Stabbed To Death

Palpable fear has enveloped Ipetumodu, a town in Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State, following the gruesome killing of a farmer, Akeem Jimoh, whose lifeless body was discovered on his farmland on Thursday.

Jimoh was said to have left his residence in Ipetumodu for his farm located along the boundary between Ipetumodu and the neighbouring town of Asipa at about 7am.

9. Another Osun Senator Dumps PDP

A serving senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Senator Olubiyi Oluwole Fadeyi, has tendered his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing irreconcilable internal crisis within the party.

In a resignation letter dated 12th June, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward 3 Chairman in Oke-Ejigbo, Ila-Orangun, Osun State, Fadeyi said his decision to quit the party was borne out of the deep division and court-induced factionalism that have plagued the PDP at the national level in the last three years.

According to the lawmaker, “Irreconcilable difference and irreparable division that have emerged and court cases and counter court cases in the last 3 years which has created faction in the party at the national level” informed his decision to resign with immediate effect.
