Police Arrest Nollywood Actor Over N2.5m Scandal
Popular Nollywood actor, Jerry Williams, has been reportedly arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Delta State over a scandal involving an alleged N2.5 million owed to film producers.
According to sources, the actor was picked up from his residence in the early hours of Monday, 21st July 2025, and taken to Benin City, Edo State, under controversial circumstances.
The arrest was allegedly facilitated by Nwafor Franklin, also known in the industry as Izutech, who is said to have collected funds from producers on the promise of securing Jerry’s appearance in upcoming movies.
The development has sparked concern within Nollywood circles, particularly after fellow actor, Stanley Ontop, raised the alarm in a video shared via social media.
In the emotional clip, Stanley alleged that Jerry was forcefully taken away by police officers in company with Izutech and warned that his colleague’s safety could be in jeopardy.
He wrote, “Izu went to Jerry Williams’ house in the early hours of today, 21st July 2025, and bundled him to Benin with the help of some Nigeria police officers. Let it be known that Jerry Williams is in Izu’s custody. If anything happens to Jerry, Izu should be held responsible.”
According to Stanley, the controversy centres around the sum of N2.5 million allegedly collected by Izutech from various producers who had planned to feature Jerry Williams in their film projects.
The actor, who recently returned to the screen after a rehabilitation period linked to substance abuse, has yet to make any public statement regarding the situation.
