Niger Govt To Demolish Radio Station For Alleged Public Incitement
Following the shutdown of Badeggi FM Radio, the Niger State Urban Development Board has marked the station for demolition.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that the state governor, Mohammed Bago, had directed the State Commissioner of Police and Commissioner for Homeland Security, Brigadier General Bello Abdullahi Mohammed RTD, to shut down the station for alleged public incitement.
The governor also sought the support of the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, to clamp down on the radio station for alleged anti-government activities and promotion of banditry in the state.
The station was marked for demolition on Saturday by the State Urban Development Board.
The governor had accused the station of promoting banditry and vowed to write to the Minister to revoke the licence of the station.
