Outrage As DSS Detains Baker, Mother Of Four For 60 Days Without Trial
There is growing public outrage over the prolonged detention of a 54-year-old Abuja-based baker and mother of four, Mrs Chineze Ozoadibe, by the Department of State Services (DSS), without trial or formal charges.
Her family alleged that she had been held incommunicado for 60 days, with the security agency refusing to disclose her whereabouts or the reason for her arrest.
Speaking to SaharaReporters on Monday, her daughter, Miriam Chinaemerem Ozoadibe, said her mother was picked up by DSS operatives on 11th June 2025 in Wuse, Abuja, and has not been seen or heard from since.
“She left our home in Apo in her silver Lexus 350 SUV to meet her sister in Wuse 2, but decided to first visit a church member, Mr Adesegun Oluwatosin, in Wuse. She never made it to her sister’s place. That was the last time we saw her,” Miriam recounted.
The family, after frantic searches, reported the matter to the Apo Police Station, Wuse Police Station, and the FCT Police Command. Phone tracking allegedly placed her last location at “FC2361 NSA office Abuja”, with coordinates indicating the DSS Headquarters.
“They have not officially confirmed they took her. We only found out through unofficial sources,” Miriam said, adding that the church member she went to visit is also in detention.
The family said they had written multiple petitions to the FCT Commissioner of Police on 19th June, the National Security Adviser and the DSS Director-General on 5th August, and through other channels in July
but none had been acknowledged.
“We are distressed and desperate. No one is telling us anything,” Miriam lamented.
The development has drawn parallels with the case of Mr Abdulyakini Salisu, a businessman detained by the DSS since 2022 without trial, despite an internal investigation reportedly clearing him of any wrongdoing.
