Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu has spoken on the ill-rumoured health of President Bola Tinubu, saying that the number 1 citizen is set to travel to Japan for an official state visit.

This was as the former governor of Abia State said the President knows that Nigerians are suffering.

The Senator disclosed this in a video clip he posted on his Facebook page.

He noted that President Tinubu might have decided to stay indoors without going out.

“Anybody can feel that he is not going out. I think the President just felt he is not going out.”

President Tinubu’s conspicuous absence from key public events have triggered speculation that he was sick and in a critical condition.

The presidency had, however, dismissed the claim, stating that Tinubu is in good health and working from home.

In the video, Senator Kalu urged Nigerians, especially politicians to focus on the achievements of the Tinubu-led administration and stop spreading rumours on the president’s health.

He said, “Nigerian people and politicians should stop this rumour and focus on what we are doing. We have done so many things and we will continue to be on track.

“The President knows that the people are suffering and he sympathises with them every day, but it is a necessary pill that we must swallow.

“I believe that the economic policies of the President might be harsh today but we are going to get better tomorrow.”

Asked if he is confirming that the president is currently in good health, the lawmaker said, “even if he is not in good health, somebody can be sick and he will get better to do his travels”.

“The president is going to Japan for a state visit and he will stop over in Brazil and come back to Nigeria to go to the United Nations in September, so the president is in good shape, let’s stop all this nonsense,” the lawmaker added.
