ADC Denies Alliance With SDP Ahead Of Kaduna Bye-Election
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State has dismissed reports claiming it entered into a coalition with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) ahead of Saturday’s bye-elections in Kajuru/Chikun Federal Constituency, Zaria and Sabon Gari Constituency.
State Chairman, Ahmad Tijjani Mustapha, said Nasiru El-Rufai is neither a member nor an official of the ADC, adding that the statement suggesting his party, the SDP, had formed an alliance with the ADC was false and aimed at misleading the public.
“ADC in Kaduna State and SDP is not into any coalition nor in any alliance with any political party in Kaduna State. There is no any official political alliance or coalition between the two political parties either written or verbal,” the statement read.
Mustapha urged the public to disregard the claims, warning that such misinformation could harm the party’s chances in the polls.
He said the matter would be reported to the appropriate authorities as it violates the ADC constitution, which forbids any member from belonging to two political parties.
The chairman called on voters in Chikun/Kajuru House of Representatives, Zaria Kewaye and Basawa State Assembly bye-elections to ignore “false claims” and turn out en masse to vote only ADC candidates.
He also advised members to remain focused, law-abiding, and comply with all Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines before, during, and after the elections.
