Mohbad: Oriyomi Hamzat Lifts Ban On Naira Marley Songs, Apologises
Founder of Agidigbo 88.7 FM in Ibadan, Oriyomi Hamzat, has apologised to Nigerian singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and lifted the ban earlier placed on Malian songs on his radio station.
Hamzat had in 2023, barred Marley’s songs following allegations linking him to the death of former Marlian Records artiste, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, who died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27.
Speaking during a live broadcast on Tuesday, Hamzat admitted he was wrong in his previous stance and expressed regret over his earlier comments against the singer.
He said, “I am very sorry for all my provocative statements or words to Naira Marley. And now at the Agidigbo radio station, we have lifted our legs up to march Satan and overcome obstacles. From today onward, I am raising the ban that was placed on the singer’s tracks at Agidigbo FM. We can now be playing Naira Marley songs at our radio station.”
To back his words with action, Hamzat immediately played Marley’s hit track ‘Tesumole’.
