The Nigeria Police Force has refuted a viral poster circulating on social media which falsely claimed that popular Nollywood actress and entrepreneur, Iyabo Ojo, had been declared wanted.

The poster, which gained traction online on Thursday, alleged that a bounty had been placed on the actress, with a reward promised for information leading to her arrest.

Reacting in a statement released on its verified Facebook page, the Force described the publication as fake and misleading.

The statement read in part: “Fake news alert! This ‘wanted’ poster of actress Iyabo Ojo did not emanate from the Nigeria Police Force. It is false, misleading and was never posted on any official NPF platform. Disregard and stop spreading fake news. Verify only from official NPF channels.”

The police further urged members of the public to ignore the viral material and desist from amplifying unverified content that could cause reputational damage.

The Force also emphasised the need for Nigerians to confirm sensitive information only through its official communication channels, warning that the spread of misinformation remains a major challenge in the digital age.
