LG Crisis: Traditionalists Predict Adeleke To Get Seized Allocations
Traditionalists in Osun State have predicted victory for Governor Ademola Adeleke in the tussle with the federal government over the current withholding of the allocation due to Local Government Areas in the State.
The traditionalists gave the prediction after consulting the Ifa oracle, offering prayers and throwing Kolanut during the grand finale of the annual Isese Day Festival held in Osogbo, Osun State, on Wednesday.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that the allocations due to local governments in Osun State have been withheld since February due to the leadership tussle between the council officials elected under the All Progressives Congress and those of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The traditionalists operating under the aegis of Traditional Religion Worshippers Association in Osun State had consulted Ifa oracle, offered prayers and threw Kolanut to confirm if their supplications would get favourable responses.
After the prayers led by Ojugbona of Ileogbo, Kayode Olagunju, had been concluded, there was a Kolanut divination, which returned victory for the state on the three occasions the items were thrown up.
The President, Traditional Region Worshippers Association in Osun State, Dr Oluseyi Atanda, while explaining why the prayers were offered for the release of the funds, disclosed that the State Government specifically requested the assistance of the traditionalists on the issue.
Atanda also said that after the prayers were offered, there was a confirmation that the funds would be released.
He, however, said that Ifa gave a warning that the state government will not show gratitude to Isese.
He further said, “What happened there was, the State Government solicited that we should intervene. They have asked traditionalists to pray. Now, we have prayed. For traditional religion, whether you have faith or you don’t have faith, after prayer, we will do a check by throwing Kolanut to know whether our prayers has been accepted or not.
“So the first Kolanut that was thrown came with Isegun, “victory.” So Ifa says there shall be victory for us in Osun. Ifa also gave a warning. What is the warning? Ifa says the government of Osun state will not show gratitude to Isese.”
Speaking on the significance of the prayers, Special Adviser to the governor on Culture, Mr. Alex Oloke, said, “The prayer they offered here, it will move faster than fasting and prayers, because the component of our prayer system has to do with nature.
“They (traditionalists) have instructed the mother earth, where we come from, and where we will go back to, that it should appeal spiritually to President Tinubu and whoever is behind the seizure of our money to release it. They will release it.
“When they used kolanut to ask, it gave us ‘Isegun,’ that is we are going to have victory over that issue. That is what ifa told us now publicly.”
OSUN DEFENDER reports that former two-term governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, was the first to declare the celebration a public holiday in 2014.
Since then, Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo have officially recognised August 20 as Isese Day, often declaring it a work-free day for public servants.
