Constituency Project: Residents Call Out Ajagunla As Lawmaker Defends Non-Removal Of Electricity Pole In Middle Of Road
The lawmaker representing Osun Central, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, has defended the failure of an engineer to remove an electricity pole in the middle of a road he constructed as part of his constituency projects.
Residents of Osun had on Saturday, called out the lawmaker over the poorly constructed road at Oduola Street, Oke Okanla, Osogbo.
In a picture posted on Facebook by a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rasaq Gafar, an electric pole was seen in the middle of the road, with netizens condemning the engineer for going ahead with the construction without removing the electricity pole.
Commenting on the post, a Facebook user, Jimoh Abayomi, who is also a member of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, mocked Gafar for posting the picture, noting that the road was constructed by Senator Fadeyi who is now an APC lawmaker.
Abayomi wrote: “That’s one of Ajagunla’s projects, your new signing in APC.”
But another APC member, Yusuf Akeem, claimed the road was constructed when the lawmaker was still with the PDP.
Akeem, while replying to Abayomi, said, “That’s the orientation your party gave him then; he is currently going through rehabilitation as a Progressive Senator that must be decent and found worthy in character and Representation.”
Reacting to the development, the lawmaker in a post on X, said the relocation of the electricity pole should have been done by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company.
Fadeyi wrote, “My attention has been drawn to a viral picture of a road facilitated in my constituency. It’s on record that the last time the road was constructed was in 1988. Since then, no government has ever seen any reason to construct it. Also the relocation of electricity poles was not in the bill of Quantities and should be done by the IBEDC.”
