Rep Tells Atiku, Obi To Withdraw From 2027 Race For Tinubu

A member of the House of Representatives, Dr Wale Ahmed, has said President Bola Tinubu deserves a second term in 2027 and advised opposition leaders, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, to withdraw from the race.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ briefing in Agege, Lagos, Ahmed argued that since the late President Muhammadu Buhari from the North was allowed to serve two terms, it is only fair for Tinubu from the South to also complete two terms.

“All his opponents should rest and allow him to have a second term. All opposition should simply rally round and support Tinubu. Late President Muhammadu Buhari, from the North, served two terms, so Tinubu should also have his second term. By God’s grace, his second term is assured. I will mobilise my constituents to ensure Tinubu is returned for another term,” Ahmed said.

He defended the removal of fuel subsidy, describing it as a courageous move that had strengthened the economy, citing the rise of foreign reserves above $40bn, increased foreign direct investments, reduced inflation, and the disbursement of N90bn in student loans.

Ahmed also listed infrastructural projects such as the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto–Badagry superhighway and the Abuja–Kano dual carriageway rehabilitation as achievements of the Tinubu administration.

“Tinubu’s foreign trips are yielding Nigeria respect abroad. The Sokoto–Badagry expressway had been on paper for 40 years until this administration took up the project. It will open up villages and benefit people across different states,” he added.

Highlighting his own performance in Agege, the lawmaker pointed to youth and women empowerment schemes, borehole and streetlight installations, food palliatives, medical outreach, classroom construction, skills acquisition programmes and scholarships.

The briefing was attended by Agege Local Government Chairman, Abdulganiyu Obasa; Orile Agege Chairman, Abiodun Idowu; traditional rulers, market leaders and community representatives, who commended Ahmed’s contributions to the constituency.
