Senator Natasha Resumes Plenary After Six-Month Suspension
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has resumed plenary after serving a six-month suspension from the Senate.
The lawmaker made her return to the Red Chamber on Tuesday, walking in as Senate President Godswill Akpabio was delivering his address of welcome to lawmakers.
Her arrival drew the attention of her colleagues, several of whom, including Senators Abdul Ningi (PDP–Bauchi), Ali Ndume (APC–Borno), and Aminu Tambuwal (PDP–Sokoto), exchanged pleasantries with her as she settled into her seat.
Akpoti-Uduaghan’s return comes after months of controversy surrounding her suspension, which was handed down in March 2025 over alleged misconduct.
The suspension followed her protest against the Senate leadership’s decision to reassign her seat — a move she claimed was unfair and politically motivated.
In previous interviews, the Kogi Central senator had insisted that she owed no apology to the Senate leadership for standing her ground, maintaining that she only acted in defence of her rights and the dignity of her office.
