JUSUN Strike Stalls Trial Of Alleged ₦9.7m Poultry Fraudster In Osun

The ongoing industrial action by the Osun State chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has stalled the trial of an alleged fraudster, Adeleke Adeniran, who was accused of defrauding a poultry farmer of ₦9.7 million in Osogbo.

Adeniran was alleged to have obtained 1,500 live chickens worth ₦9.7 million from a poultry farmer, Tijani Ahmed, under false pretence in December 2024.

According to the victim, the suspect was introduced to him as a poultry processor who intended to purchase large quantities of chickens for commercial purposes.

Ahmed narrated that Adeniran visited his farm on 18 December 2024, took away the birds, and issued a post-dated cheque, which was to be cashed later that month.

However, when Ahmed presented the cheque at the bank on 2 January 2025, he was informed that the suspect’s account had insufficient funds.

“The man is a fraudster parading himself as a chicken processor in Osun. I tried reaching him several times, but he disappeared. I had to involve the police, and he was arrested in January 2025,” Ahmed said.

The suspect was later charged to court for alleged fraud, and the case was scheduled for continuation of trial on 9 October 2025.

However, the matter could not proceed due to the ongoing strike action by JUSUN, which has paralysed court activities across the state.

Expressing frustration over the delay, the victim appealed to authorities to intervene, noting that the prolonged strike has hindered the quest for justice.

“I hope justice prevails and this fraudster faces the full wrath of the law,” Ahmed said.
