INEC Issues Official Notice For Anambra Gov Election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued an official notice for the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election scheduled to hold on November 8, 2025.
INEC’s Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs Ugomma Lechukwu, announced this in Awka on Sunday while briefing journalists on the commission’s preparedness for the poll.
She explained that the notice of poll was issued in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended), which mandates the electoral body to publish the notice ahead of the election date.
“Notice is hereby given that election to the office of the governorship shall be held on November 8, 2025,” Lechukwu stated.
According to her, voting will commence at 8:30 a.m. and end by 2:30 p.m., while only persons whose names appear on the register of voters and possess valid voter cards will be eligible to vote.
She further noted that each voter is expected to cast their vote at the polling unit where they registered.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that no fewer than 16 governorship candidates are contesting the election, comprising 14 males and two females.
INEC assured that it remains committed to ensuring a transparent, free, and credible electoral process in the state.
