A Magistrate Court sitting in Kano has ordered two popular TikTokers, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda, to marry each other within 60 days following their involvement in viral videos deemed “indecent” by authorities.

The order, issued by Magistrate Halima Wali on Monday, came after the duo appeared before the court on allegations of producing and circulating obscene content in violation of Kano State’s moral and religious codes.

The controversial clips, which went viral on social media, showed the pair engaging in romantic gestures considered inappropriate by the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board. The board described the videos as contrary to the values upheld by the predominantly conservative state.

Presiding over the matter, Magistrate Wali directed the Kano State Hisbah Board to facilitate and oversee the marriage process between the two content creators within the stipulated 60 days.

She further warned that failure to comply with the directive would be treated as contempt of court.

The court also instructed the Chairman of the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board to monitor and ensure full implementation of the order.

It was recalled that the two TikTok personalities had earlier been arraigned for allegedly producing and sharing videos described by authorities as immoral and capable of corrupting public decency. Mai Wushirya was reportedly remanded in a correctional facility before being granted bail.

The Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board maintained that the viral clips violated state laws prohibiting the creation and dissemination of sexually suggestive or obscene materials on social media platforms.
