Uncontrolled Anger Could Jeopardise Nwabali’s Career – Muisi Ajao
South Africa-based Mamelodi Sundowns legend and former Nigerian international, Muisi Ajao, has warned that Stanley Nwabali’s career could be at risk if he does not manage his anger.
“I am surprised by his recent behaviour. He seems to have gone through a slump in form, and his anger issues aren’t helping. This could strain his relationship with teammates and the technical crew, which isn’t healthy for him. He needs to focus on improving his ball handling and reflexes instead of engaging in unnecessary antics,” Ajao said.
Nwabali has recently faced criticism for a series of on-field incidents that have raised questions about his composure and form.
Since breaking into the Super Eagles squad ahead of AFCON 2024, he won the hearts of fans, particularly after helping Nigeria reach the continental final.
However, his behaviour in the build-up to the World Cup qualifiers has drawn negative attention.
After a below-par performance that nearly allowed Lesotho a late equaliser in Polokwane, Nwabali was involved in clashes with teammates during the crucial Group C qualifier against Benin in Uyo.
Efforts by captain Wilfred Ndidi to calm him down failed after he pushed Ndidi away, and at half-time, he was seen arguing with Calvin Bassey.
Some observers describe his actions as arrogance or disrespect, while others call for anger management.
The incidents have led frustrated Nigerian fans to demand a swift replacement for the Chippa United goalkeeper.
