2026: APC Affirms Oyebanji As Consensus Candidate For Ekiti Guber Poll
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has affirmed Governor Biodun Oyebanji as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2026 governorship election.
The affirmation took place at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, where the Senate Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, moved the motion for the governor’s adoption.
The motion was seconded by the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Stephen Aribasoye.
Chairman of the Affirmation Congress Committee, Governor Usman Ododo, described the endorsement as a reflection of Oyebanji’s giant strides across various sectors that have positively impacted the people of the state.
Ododo said the exercise underscored the APC’s reputation as a party of discipline and unity, adding that the people’s confidence in the governor’s leadership remains unshaken.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Oyebanji expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his consistent support, noting that the President’s governance style continues to serve as a model for many political leaders.
He also extended an olive branch to former aspirants, including Kayode Ojo, urging them to work together to advance the state’s progress through unity and shared purpose.
