Senator Natasha Demands Justice As Court Acquits Alleged Rapists Of 13-yr-Old Minor
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has renewed calls for justice in the tragic case of 13-year-old Ochanya Ogbanje, who died in 2018 after years of alleged sexual abuse.
The abuse, reportedly committed by her aunt’s husband, Andrew Ogbuja, and his son, Victor, had sparked nationwide outrage and demands for stronger child protection laws.
However, in a statement on Thursday shared on her Instagram, Senator Natasha raised concerns that the alleged perpetrators had been discharged and acquitted by the court.
”Seven years ago, the heart-wrenching story of little Ochanya devastated me. I thought the perpetrators were in jail. Alas, they were discharged and acquitted,” Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan said.
The senator urged Ochanya’s family to submit a formal petition to her office, Room 2:05, Senate Wing, National Assembly Complex, Abuja, so she could take legislative action.
”For our children, I stand for justice for Ochanya,” she affirmed, acknowledging social media advocate #miss_natural1 for bringing the case to her attention.
The #JusticeForOchanya campaign has been revived on social media, with Nigerians demanding accountability and justice for the late teenager.
