Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has accused Senator Ned Nwoko and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, of orchestrating the alleged unlawful imprisonment of Samuel Ojeogwu, the younger brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.

‎In a statement posted on his social media handle, Sowore alleged that Nwoko, whom he described as a “so-called criminal billionaire and APC Senator,” used his influence in collaboration with the police chief to have Sammy West unjustly detained at the Keffi Prison in Nasarawa State.

‎“I have again been informed that the so-called criminal billionaire and APC Senator, Prince Ned Nwoko @Prince_NedNwoko, has used his influence, working hand-in-glove with the illegal Inspector General of @nigeriapoliceforce, Kayode Egbetokun, to have a young man unjustly imprisoned at the notorious Keffi prison.

‎”The victim in this latest act of tyranny is Samuel Ojeogwu aka “Sammy West @samm ,” the younger brother of Nwoko’s “now-temporarily estranged wife”, @reginadaniels ,” Sowore said.

‎He described the incident as another example of “the unholy alliance of impunity between Senator Ned Nwoko, sections of the Nigeria Police Force, and some pliant magistrates,” accusing them of perpetuating injustice despite public outcry against their alleged excesses.

‎”It is deeply unfortunate that the unholy alliance of impunity between Senator @Prince_NedNwoko , sections of the Nigeria Police Force @PoliceNG , and some pliant magistrates continues to thrive despite our persistent challenge to their lawlessness.”

‎Sowore called on the authorities of the Nigeria Police Force to immediately end what he termed an act of brigandage and to withdraw the bogus charges against Sammy West.

‎”I therefore call on the Nigeria Police Force authorities to immediately put an end to this brigandage and to release Sammy West forthwith by withdrawing the bogus charges levelled against him,” he added.
