N1 Trillion Allocation Claim: Osun Govt Counters APC, Says Allegation Fake News

The Osun State Government has dismissed as false and politically motivated the claim00 by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that Governor Ademola Adeleke received and mismanaged ₦1 trillion in state allocations between 2022 and 2025.

In a statement on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, described the allegation as “fake news from a desperate opposition party already preparing for another defeat in 2026.”

According to the statement, the APC’s claim is a “devilish fabrication and failed propaganda” aimed at discrediting the widely acknowledged performance of the Adeleke administration.

“The governor has not received anything near ₦1 trillion. Rather, he has managed Osun’s limited resources prudently, focusing on key areas such as health, infrastructure, education, business financing, technology, workers’ welfare, agriculture, and pension management,” the statement reads partly

The statement highlighted the administration’s major achievements, including the construction of 322 kilometers of roads, renovation of 200 health centres, rehabilitation of over 100 schools, and dualisation of key township roads. Other ongoing projects include flyover bridges, upgrading of several waterworks, acquisition of new tractors, and the renovation of the Osogbo City Stadium to international standards.

It also noted that under Adeleke, Osun has not borrowed any funds since 2022 but has reduced the state’s debt burden by 40 percent, according to the Federal Debt Management Office (DMO).

“Governor Adeleke does not collect security votes and ensures that all government expenditures are processed transparently through due approval systems”.

The government further accused the APC of ignoring the administration’s commitment to clearing outstanding half salaries and pension arrears left by previous governments, noting that over 30,000 pensioners have been enrolled in the state’s health insurance scheme — an initiative he said is now being emulated at the federal level.

On local government finances, the statement said the Adeleke administration has been shouldering the financial burden of the councils since the alleged seizure of their funds by the previous APC-led government, ensuring that local government workers continue to receive their pay.

The statement also pointed out Osun’s remarkable improvements in education and infrastructure, citing that the state has risen from 33rd to 7th position in the NECO ranking and reduced its infrastructure deficit by 40 percent since 2022.

“The APC can continue spreading lies, but Osun people can see the difference. From teachers and pensioners to farmers and artisans, the people appreciate Governor Adeleke’s commitment to good governance” .

It urged the opposition to desist from what he called “cheap blackmail,” insisting that the ₦1 trillion allocation claim is “a baseless falsehood designed to mislead the public.”
