APC Alleges PDP Plot to Disrupt Matawalle’s Visit to Zamfara

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has raised concerns that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is allegedly planning to disrupt the welcome ceremony for the Minister of State for Defence, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle.

State APC Publicity Secretary, Mallam Yusuf Idris Gusau, said the party has finalised arrangements to receive the minister on Thursday, with leaders, supporters, and youths ready to welcome him at Yankara, a border community between Katsina and Zamfara States, before escorting him to his Maradun country home.

Gusau recalled that a press statement issued from the party’s state headquarters in Gusau had already cautioned members against carrying weapons during the minister’s visit, emphasising adherence to law and order.

“Unfortunately, we have received credible information that the ruling PDP has hatched a plan to disrupt our gatherings,” Gusau said.

“They allegedly intend to use thugs disguised as our supporters to interfere with the visit, having prior knowledge of our schedule.”

He warned security agencies to remain vigilant, citing reports that gun-wielding thugs may target the APC motorcade around Tsafe and en route to Maradun.

APC supporters have been instructed to monitor for suspicious activity and hand over any outsiders to security personnel.

Gusau also accused the PDP of attempting to discredit the APC to cover up its perceived failures, noting that several PDP members, including campaign sponsor Alhaji Bashir Adamu Imad, have recently defected to the APC.

In response, PDP Zamfara State Publicity Secretary, Haliru Andi, dismissed the allegations as unfounded.
