Court to Broadcast Nnamdi Kanu’s Terrorism Trial Judgment Live

The court registrar confirmed the arrangement to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday morning.

Television crews from NTA, Channels TV, AIT, TVC, and other stations were already in the courtroom with cameras and equipment ready to transmit the proceedings live.
Justice James Omotosho had earlier, on November 7, set Thursday as the date for judgment after Kanu’s defence was foreclosed. The court took this step after Kanu refused to present his defence under a law that had been repealed.
The judge explained that Kanu had used up the six days allowed for his defence and, by declining to proceed, had waived his right to it.
Omotosho noted that he would have granted more time had Kanu opted to continue, but since he did not, he cannot claim to have been denied his constitutionally guaranteed right to a fair trial.
