The lawmaker representing Osun Central, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, on Saturday, officially decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Olubiyi, who was elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party but resigned from the party some months ago, defected alongside other members of the PDP in Ila Orangun.

Speaking at the event, the APC state officer in the Ila local government, Alhaji Rasheed Adeniji, praised the influx of new members, referring to Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi and the other defectors as “political caterpillars.”

Adeniji asserted that their experience and influence would bolster the party’s strength in preparation for the 2026 Osun gubernatorial election and the 2027 general elections.

He expressed confidence in the APC’s supremacy in the town, stating,

“Today, in Ila Orangun, there is only one political party. If you are not in APC, you are not in politics. With this structure, Ila will deliver President Tinubu in 2027, and all federal and state positions will be APC,” Adeniji was quoted to have said.

In his address, Senator Fadeyi, who expressed gratitude to the APC, said, “Being a member of the ruling party makes things easier for Senators at the National Assembly.

“Any Senator who prioritises the interests of their constituents will choose to engage in mainstream politics for their benefit.”
