Osun Police Dismisses AI-Generated Video Claiming Bandits Coming To Ilesa
The Osun State Police Command has said a video circulating online that bandits are on their way to the Ilesa axis of the state was false.
The spokesperson for the command, Biodun Ojelabi, in a statement on Thursday, said the video was AI-generated and only meant to cause uproar in the state.
Ojelabi said the claim that bandits are coming to Ilesa was entirely baseless, misleading, and deliberately crafted to cause fear, panic, incitement and breach of public peace.
The statement said, “The Command strongly condemns the state of rising cases of false information/alarms and enjoins members of the public to avoid generating AI Animations/Videos/Images, posting/forwarding unverified information capable of causing panic in the State.”
Ojelabi added that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Gotan, has deployed both overt and covert police personnel to the Ilesa axis and other parts of the State to forestall any breakdown of law and order, adding that “any suspicion should be reported to the nearest police station or through our emergency lines: 08039537995/08123823981.”
