Taraba Gov Declares State of Emergency On Infrastructure, Human Services
Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has declared a state of emergency on infrastructural development and human services, citing escalating challenges that threaten public health, safety, and overall welfare.
The announcement, made public on Friday by the office of the Secretary to the State Government, aims to fast-track interventions across critical sectors in the state.
To implement the emergency measures, Governor Kefas has approved the formation of a 24-month Emergency Implementation Committee (EIC), tasked with coordinating and overseeing all activities during the period.
Danladi Baido Tijos has been appointed as chairman, with membership drawn from key ministries and state agencies.
The committee will include the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Commissioners for Health, Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Basic Education, Water Resources, Agriculture and Food Security, Energy and Economic Development, Environment and Climate Change, Works & Infrastructure, as well as the Chairman of the State Planning Commission, the State Auditor-General, and the Director-General of the Bureau for Public Procurement.

In a related development, the state government has announced the creation and redesignation of several ministries as part of ongoing administrative restructuring approved by the governor.
According to Secretary to the State Government, Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps, the changes involve both the establishment of new ministries and the renaming of existing ones to better reflect their mandates.
The Ministry of Cooperatives & Poverty Alleviation will now be replaced by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Service.
Two new ministries have been created: the Ministry of Nursery and Basic Education, and the Ministry of Secondary, Vocational and Skill Education.
Additionally, the Ministry of Social Justice has been redesignated as the Ministry of Social Justice and Re-Integration.
