Former First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has made a startling remark about how the late former President Muhammadu Buhari believed the gossip in Aso Rock that she wanted to kill him.

Her remarks were contained in the late former President’s biography: ’From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari’,  authored by Dr. Charles Omole and launched at the State House on Monday.

Mrs Buhari said that the former president was so swayed by the rumour that he “began locking his room.”

She further revealed that the ex-president’s health crisis was not a mysterious ailment or poisoning but mismanagement of his medications and supplements.

OSUN DEFENDER recalls that Buhari died on July 2025, in London Clinic and was brought back to Daura in Nigeria where he was buried.

However, the book disclosed how Mrs Buhari had long supervised her husband’s meals and supplements at specific hours.

According to her, the regimen helped “a slender man with a long history of malnutrition symptoms” maintain strength.

“Elderly bodies require gentle, consistent support. He doesn’t have a chronic illness. Keep him on schedule.

“Then came the gossip and the fearmongering. They said I wanted to kill him.

“My husband believed them for a week or so,” she said, revealing that the President “began locking his room, changed small habits, and crucially, meals were delayed or missed; the supplements were stopped.

“For a year, he did not have lunch. They mismanaged his meals.”
