Insecurity: Osun Police Deploy Mobile Force, Tactical Units To Boundaries

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the deployment of officers of the Police Mobile Force (MOPOL) and other tactical squads for vigorous patrols, intelligence-led operations and combing of bushes in order to beef up security across the boundaries of Osun State.

The IGP said the move was to flush out criminal elements and dismantle bandit hideouts within the state boundaries.

This was disclosed in a statement by the spokesperson for the state Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi on Wednesday.

“The Osun State Police Command in collaboration with State Government under the leadership of the Executive Governor of Osun State, His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke in view of the recent kidnapping and bandit attack at Ora-Igbomina, the Osun Police Command in compliance with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun has deployed officers of the Police Mobile Force (MOPOL), and other tactical squads for vigorous patrols, intelligence led operation and combing of bushes to beef up security across boundaries of Osun State.”

“This deployment is aimed at strengthening security across the State, preventing further criminal activities,” the statement noted.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, reassured Osun residents of adequate security before, during and after the yuletide season.

He also urged the community to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that can aid ongoing operations.

The CP warned criminals to desist from all forms of criminality as security agencies have fully prepared to deal decisively with anyone found threatening the public peace and safety.
