A political feud has erupted in Abia State over claims that failed politicians from the South East are giving President Bola Tinubu false assurances about winning the region in the 2027 presidential election.

The controversy followed former Minister of State for Science and Technology, Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh’s dismissal of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe’s prediction that Tinubu would lose in 2027.

Ikoh, Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Abia, insisted the president would perform well in Abia and across the country, calling Abaribe’s remarks “misleading and out of touch with reality.”

But the Abia African Democratic Congress (ADC) has fired back.

n a statement on Thursday, the state’s ADC Publicity Secretary, Rev. Dr. P. C. Okeiyi, accused Ikoh of deceiving the president and warned him to stop complicating the political space with failed policies.

“Ikoh has nothing to offer Abians, not as a politician or industrialist. He was settled with our state funds as a former commissioner, yet Abians cannot recall any notable contribution from him,” Okeiyi said.

He urged President Tinubu to ignore advice from such politicians, stressing, “Abia and indeed the South East will not vote for APC or Tinubu.”

The statement has sparked strong reactions, with many accusing Ikoh of misleading the president.
