The directive was contained in a notice dated January 6, 2026, and signed by the commission’s coordinator, Muhammad Yahudi.
The commission said isolated discussions between males and females conducted in ways that contradict Islamic teachings are strictly prohibited.
It also barred the intermingling of men and women at public gatherings and in public transport within the state.
In addition, the Hisbah Commission prohibited reckless driving and overspeeding by vehicles and tricycles during Sallah and wedding celebrations.
“All residents and visitors are urged to observe these directives strictly in order to maintain peace, safety, and uphold the Islamic values of our society,” the statement said.
The commission added that the order was issued under the leadership of its chairman, Dr Yahuza Hassan Abubakar.
According to the statement, the restrictions apply throughout Yobe State and are aimed at promoting public order and moral conduct in line with Islamic values.
