Assailants Kill Woman, Six Children in Kano
Six children and their mother, Fatima Abubakar, were killed when unknown assailants attacked their home in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Kano State, on Saturday.
The Kano State Police Command said in a statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa that they received a distress call at about 12:10 p.m. reporting the attack on the household of Haruna Bashir.
The victims sustained fatal injuries from dangerous weapons. Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori immediately deployed a police team led by Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Isah Mani, to the scene.
The bodies were taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where they were confirmed dead.
A team headed by ACP Wada Jarma of the Criminal Investigation Department has been tasked with conducting a full investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.
The police extended condolences to the family, the residents of Dorayi Chiranchi, and the people of Kano State.
The incident was captured in a live video on Facebook by Freedom Radio Nigeria, which reported that the attackers not only killed Fatima and her children but also threw an infant into a well.
