One Killed in Multiple-Vehicle Crash in Lagos
A multiple road crash involving a TATA bus and a mini bus has occurred at the Independence Tunnel inward Maryland along Ikorodu Road, leading to the death of the mini bus driver.
The incident was disclosed in a video uploaded by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday.
LASTMA said a tow truck has arrived at the scene for evacuation, while its Rescue and Recovery Team is on ground to handle vehicle removal and traffic control.
“A multiple road crash involving a TATA bus and a mini bus occurred at Independent Tunnel inward Maryland.
“The incident resulted in the death of the mini bus driver.
“Tow truck already at the scene for evacuation.
“LASTMA Rescue and Recovery Team at the scene for vehicle removal and traffic control,” the agency stated.
LASTMA also confirmed that transloading operations are ongoing after drums fell on the roadway at the Independence Tunnel en route to Ojota.
“The transloading of the drums that fell on the road at the Independence Tunnel en route to Ojota is underway, and our personnel are strategically positioned to ensure that traffic is unhindered,” the statement added.
Traffic management officials said they are continuing to monitor the situation as evacuation and recovery operations progress.
