Bricklayer Lands In Prison For Allegedly Raping PWD
A Magistrate Court, sitting in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, has ordered the remand of a 38-year-old man, Olusola Busayo, at the Ilesa Correctional Centre for allegedly raping a person with disability.
Busayo, a bricklayer, was dragged to court by the state Police Command on a one-count charge of rape, in violation of relevant laws.
The police prosecutor, Adejola Adesuyi, alleged that the defendant unlawfully engaged in sexual intercourse with a lady who has special needs.
The Prosecutor told the court that offense was contrary to section 358 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The defense counsel, Kehinde Adepoju, prayed the court to grant his client bail.
However, the police prosecutor opposed the oral bail application request.
He argued that allowing the victim to continue seeing the defendant could reignite her trauma and exacerbate the harm she has already suffered.
In his ruling, the presiding Magistrate, Oyindamola Daramola, ordered that the defendant be remanded in Ilesa correctional facility.
The case was adjourned to February 27, 2026, for mention.
