Six Arrested Over Abduction of Six-Year-Old Boy in Gombe
Six people have been arrested over the alleged abduction of six-year-old Habibu Appolos from Nyuwar Village in Balanga Local Government Area, Gombe State.
According to Zagazola Makama, the boy was reportedly kidnapped in August 2025 by unknown assailants.
On January 22, 2026, he was found in the custody of 14-year-old Zubaina Abubakar from Kumuru via Nyuwar.
During questioning, Zubaina implicated 28-year-old Oborona Obidah, who allegedly delivered the child to her grandparents, and 45-year-old Habiba Isa of Lafiya, Lamurde in Adamawa State, who reportedly instructed her to hand the boy over to 30-year-old Gidado Ibrahim of Sibo Village.
Preliminary investigations revealed the suspects conspired to abduct the child for ritual purposes.
Among those arrested is 45-year-old Yunusa Kura of Kumtur Village, identified as the alleged ritualist.
Police confirmed that all suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
