An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ekiti State has ordered the remand of two men, Ibrahim Abubakar (37) and Adamu Lukman (26), at the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Centre over alleged kidnapping and cattle rustling.

The defendants are accused of conspiring to kidnap and kidnapping two victims, identified as Olaniyan Gbolahan (26) and one Kazeem, as well as rustling about 200 cattle.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the offences were committed within the Ikole-Ekiti Magisterial District on or about October 23, 2025, at about 10:00 a.m.

He said the alleged offences contravene Sections 280, 279, and 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021, which prescribe severe penalties.

Inspector Oriyomi informed the court that there was probable cause to believe the defendants committed the offences and that further investigation was required.

According to him, the case file has been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice, and he urged the court to grant his ex-parte application for remand.

The defendants were represented by Barrister Oluwafemi Alabi, but their pleas were not taken.

In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted the prosecution’s application and ordered that the defendants be remanded in custody.

The case was adjourned until February 24, 2026, for mention.
