Kidnappers Demand N100m Ransom for Abducted Women in Ekiti
Suspected kidnappers who invaded Erinmope-Ekiti in Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State have demanded a N100 million ransom for five women abducted from a family residence.
Head of the family, Muhammad Saliu Okanlawon, also known as Elebenla, said the gunmen stormed their home around 7:00 pm last Saturday while male members of the household were at the mosque.
He said the assailants fired sporadically before abducting five female members of the family.
The victims were identified as Kehinde Mahmud, Adijat Hussein, Hawawu Suleiman, Fatima and another Fatima. Among them are a heavily pregnant woman and a nursing mother.
Okanlawon said security agencies, including the police, Amotekun and civil defence, responded promptly but the kidnappers escaped.
He added that the abductors called once to demand the ransom and have since gone silent.
The family appealed to the state government for urgent intervention, lamenting its inability to raise such an amount.
