OSUN DEFENDER reports that Ekiti and Osun states are gearing up for gubernatorial elections. The governorship election in Ekiti state will come up on June 20, while that of Osun will hold on August 08, 2026.

The medium also gathered that the All Progressives Congress in Osun State recently said it would work towards giving President Bola Tinubu about one million votes in the 2027 general elections.
A former Commissioner for Information in the state, Sunday Akere, who is currently the Osun State Renewed Hope Ambassador, stated this last Tuesday in Osogbo during the inauguration of Local Government Ambassadors for the initiative.
Akere said that out of almost two million registered voters in the state, the APC would target one million votes for Tinubu.
He said, “We are not looking at anything less than a million votes for the President here in Osun because at least we have almost two million registered voters in the state, and it is very sad that when we do elections, we always have less than 500,000 people voting.
“That is why we want them (LG Ambassadors) to go to the grassroots and mobilise the people, do the outreach and engage the people so that the President will have a minimum of a million votes in Osun.
“Their first mandate is that by the 8th of August, 2026, they must deliver our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO),” Akere added.
