You Are Mistaking Nigeria For Niger Republic – Mahdi Shehu Conters Oluremi Tinubu
Mahdi Shehu has faulted a comment from Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, where she claimed that Nigeria is gaining global recognition despite security and economic challenges.
Reacting on his verified X handle on Tuesday, Shehu described the statement as false, saying Nigeria is not enjoying global respect but instead being viewed negatively.
“It is a lie. Maybe Remi is mistaken Nigeria for Niger Republic.”
Shehu said Nigeria is currently being seen and treated as a laughing stock.
He pointed to what he described as visible signs of national failure.
According to him, the country is facing decay, hunger, starvation, extremely high unemployment and visible symptoms of revolt.”
He also criticised the First Lady personally, urging her to reassess her position.
“Pastor Remi should go back to the drawing table and get more educated on the dangers facing Nigeria under her globetrotting husband,” he said.
The First Lady had reportedly made the remarks on global recognition during an appearance on Fox News while on a visit to the United States, following an acknowledgment by U.S. President, Donald Trump at the 74th U.S. National Prayer Breakfast in Washington.
