Plateau: CAOS Deploys Special Forces Battalion To Combat Banditry Resurgence
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved the immediate deployment of a special forces intervention battalion to Plateau State to address the recent resurgence of banditry attacks.
In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, Captain Chinonso Oteh, the troops already in the state were described as a decisive force expected to significantly curb insecurity and restore stability.
The soldiers were received at the Headquarters of 3 Division by the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, who was represented by the Chief of Staff of the operation, Brigadier General Senlong Sule.
Addressing the troops, the command urged them to remain decisive and uncompromising in conducting offensive operations against bandits threatening peace in the state.
Major General Oyinlola also commended the proactive leadership of the Chief of Army Staff for providing the necessary combat enablers and logistics required for the successful execution of the mission.
He appealed to residents not to panic at the sight of increased troop movement and deployment of heavy military equipment, while appreciating the public for its continued support to security forces.
The commander further called on citizens to provide timely and actionable intelligence on the whereabouts of criminal elements to support ongoing operations aimed at restoring lasting peace across Plateau State
