Police Confirm Abduction of Teenage Girl in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a 12-year-old Junior Secondary School 2 student of Monarch Model College, Ibadan.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ibadan on Thursday.

He said the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, February 12, 2026, in the Challenge area of the city.

According to him, preliminary reports indicate that at about 7:20 a.m., the teenage girl was allegedly abducted by unknown armed men at a junction leading to her school premises while alighting from the vehicle that had conveyed her to school.

“The incident was promptly reported to the Police, and detectives were immediately deployed to the scene for preliminary assessment and fact-finding,” Ayanlade stated.

He added that eyewitnesses have been identified and questioned, noting that their accounts are providing useful leads to aid ongoing investigations.

The Police spokesperson further explained that the victim’s parents are in close contact with the command as efforts intensify to secure the safe rescue of the child.

He said the Commissioner of Police has ordered a comprehensive, intelligence-driven investigation and assured the public that all efforts are being made to bring the perpetrators to justice.
